Existing biobanks: Information letter to be changed in connection with the GDPR

Due to the new European privacy legislation, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which has been in effect since May 2018, existing biobanks must also meet the statutory requirements for data processing when fulfilling their duty to inform new donors.

The more extensive duty to provide information to donors as a consequence of the GDPR also applies to approved biobanks which are still including new donors. It is therefore necessary to amend the biobank information letter.

In the Q&A you can read what you need to do to amend the biobank information letter and how the templates for the biobank letter, the consent form and the withdrawal form dated 01 November 2018 have changed compared to the versions from February 2015.
